Imagine it is 1940 and you live in paris france and you are a young boy who loves to play marbles with his friends.
A bag of marbles book review. The book i read is called bag of marbles and it is about world war 2 and the nazis. For a brief portion of the war he spends his days eating pastries and watching the same movie over and over again. I hope that young readers will be introduced to this important book. The english translation of the title is bag of marbles which doesn t have the same ring but had to be kept because of the symbolism.

Instead by following the journey of inseparable brothers joseph and maurice we see 1940s france through the innocent eyes of a child. Ten year old joseph even looks a bit like tintin with his skinny frame and blond hair.
A bag of marbles un sac de billes is based on the best selling autobiographical novel by joseph joffo but here we aren t treated to the bleak battlefield often shown with such subject matter. Then 1941 comes and the nazis have came to paris and taken over because of this you have had a huge chunk of your childhood taken from you. The story is regaining popularity now because a new film adaptation was released earlier this year. This feels sketchy and fast easy to integrate the story with the photos but not quite as good as it could be as a well told story.
